Marble & Granite Ltd.
Quartz is a durable product that will delight you for years. As it is non-porous, it has a good resistance to stains, scratches and heat. However, it is not weatherproof and some precautionary measures must be taken to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Quartz should not be sealed like Granite or Marble. Because it is not porous, sealers will not penetrate the surface. If you attempt to seal Quartz counters, the sealer will just stay on the surface and will eventually wear off. This will cause the surface to look blemished.
Use lukewarm water, a soft cloth and non-abrasive soap. Do not use bleach products. Although the quartz is non-porous, it can, however, in some situations, absorb a small amount of liquid. Therefore, we recommend wiping up messes quickly to avoid damage and to clean surfaces immediately in cases of spills.
Do not use abasive cleansers or pads to clean Quartz counters as this will dull the surface over time. Also you should avoid cutting food directly on counter top.
Some chemicals can damage your quartz. To prevent stains, avoid solvents, cleaners, paint, stain removers, solvents, bleaching agents and soaps made from oil. Some of these chemicals may be found in common household cleaners, so it is important to read the labels. Also avoid using ink or permanent marker directly on the surface.
Due to its composition, quartz is very resistant to heat. As such, a hot plate can be placed on the surface with little risk of damage. However, please note that it is not entirely safe from extreme temperature changes. We recommend that you use trivets or pot holders when placing hot pots or pans on the countertop.
